Zooming in on Biodiversity

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN — The Asean Center for Biodiversity (ACB), with support from the European Union (EU), has announced that it is calling on photography and nature enthusiasts to join ‘Zooming in on Biodiversity’ – an Asean-wide photo competition promoting appreciation for the rich biodiversity of the Asean region through the art of photography.

ACB is searching for powerful photographs related to the following areas of biodiversity: coastal and marine biodiversity; agrobiodiversity; wildlife species; urban biodiversity; and wetlands and peatlands.

The contest is themed ‘Capturing the richness of biological resources in the Asean region’, and the press release noted that the event is a major initiative under the ACB and EU Biodiversity Conservation and Management of Protected Areas in Asean (BCAMP) Project.

Winners will have the opportunity to receive cash prizes and get their photos published in major major ACB publications and exhibits.

Registration is free and open to all citizens of the Asean region —Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Information on the contest can be found at the Asean Center for Biodiversity website, www.aseanbiodiversity.org/zoomingin.

Established in 2005 by the Asean member states (AMS) as a response to the challenge of biodiversity loss in the region, the ACB supports and coordinates the implementation of activities in the region leading to the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity, for the benefit of the region and the AMS.
